Before you start calling dozens of contractors to come and give you a free estimate, read these following tips. If these suggestions are followed, you should save yourself a great deal of aggravation and money in the future:
- Ask contractors lots of questions - Don’t assume they’re going to just volunteer information about constructing a pool, but the more you know about the construction the better buyer you are going to be.
- Get a few estimates - Don’t waste your time getting 10-15 estimates for your swimming pool construction. That’s only going to confuse you. Look around and find 3 or 4 reputable swimming pool companies. Then make a decision.
- Do homework on your contractor – Find out what makes the contractor qualified. Don’t hire somebody without finding out a little bit about their history. Ask to see some of their work and if they have referrals they’d give you.
- Do NOT hire your contractor based on price - If you choose your pool builder on price alone, chances are you are going to be disappointed.
- READ YOUR CONTRACT - This is definitely one of the most important things you are going to do when hiring a pool contractor. Make sure everything that was promised to you is written in the contract.
